This is really cool. Have you ever noticed the Blue Plaques around London that indicate whether or not someone famous lived at a particular house? They’re a very cool way to see the social history of London. We have a great article on the plaques here.

English Heritage, who manage the Blue Plaques scheme have released a lovely new app to guide you to all these wonderful places.

From English Heritage:

London’s famous blue plaques link the people of the past with the buildings of the present. With this app, you can find plaques near you, learn more about your favourite figures from history and discover the unsung heroes from London’s past. Use GPS technology to walk in the footsteps of some of the capital’s most notable residents on themed tours through London’s historic streets.

Established in 1866, the official London blue plaques scheme has been run by English Heritage since 1986. Across the capital over 900 plaques, on buildings humble and grand, honour the notable men and women who have lived or worked in them.

The app is free!

The Blue Plaque app is available for free for Android and Apple devices.
