About This Event
One of London’s favourite festive traditions returns as Somerset House’s historic courtyard is transformed into a spectacular seasonal destination, with skating for all ages, warming winter treats and one-of-a-kind gift shopping. At the centre of it all stands the magnificent Christmas tree, decorated in Virgin Atlantic Holidays’ signature style. Skate Lates with Aperol Spritz bring the party to the ice with DJs under the stars – new for 2026 with sets from Daytimers, Netil Radio, Gauchoworld and UKF. Every weekend morning, Skate School offers lessons for adults and teens and Kids’ Club caters for children aged 6-10, all coached by the team behind Team GB’s future skating stars. Reduced-capacity Relaxed sessions and dedicated wheelchair skating sessions also form part of the programme. Rink-side, the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse returns as a free-to-enter retreat inspired by mid-century travel luxury, alongside The Chalet by Jimmy Garcia serving raclette and alpine dishes, The Petits Chalets for hot chocolate and German hot dogs, and the Shelter Boutique pop-up brought to you by HSBC UK, where every purchase supports Shelter’s work with people facing homelessness. Entry to the site is free for all – tickets are only required for those wishing to skate. Skating tickets from GBP 11 to GBP 28.50, on sale in September. Presented as part of Somerset House’s winter programme alongside the free exhibition Through Our Eyes: Sami Art and Culture.
