In a three-way battle for the Premier League trophy this season, Arsenal are flying the flag for London against the north-west pair of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Arsenal and Chelsea are the only London clubs to have previously lifted the famous trophy and the Gunners are firmly in the mix to try and bring it back to the capital this spring.

Gunners Desperate To End Title Wait

Having last won the Premier League title in the 2003/04 season, Arsenal fans have had 20 years to wait for the trophy to return to north London. The Gunners, who are 3/1 with a bet on sports online to win the title this season, last finished top of the pile under former manager Arsène Wenger. Current boss Mikel Arteta is looking to emulate Wenger’s successful tenure and those backing the Gunners to beat Liverpool and Manchester City to the title this season can use a bet calculator to work out what returns they can expect. Arsenal looked like they were going to end the long wait to bring the trophy back to north London last season, when they found themselves eight points clear of reigning champions Manchester City.

Despite a valiant effort from the outfit based in the Holloway area of north London, City showed their experience to claim what was their third consecutive Premier League title under Guardiola. Arteta will be determined to show he and his players have learnt from last season’s experience, as they dropped crucial points at the business end of the campaign. The Gunners have certainly responded well to the disappointment of last season and have been a force to be reckoned with both in the Premier League and in the Champions League this term.

Arsenal Can Wrestle Trophy From North West Back To London

When it comes to the Premier League trophy, the piece of famous silverware has found it’s home in the north west of England due to the recent domination of Manchester City and Liverpool. For the last six years the trophy has been in the north, with Chelsea the last club to bring the silverware to London back in the 2016/17 season.

Since the Premier League started in the 1992/93 campaign, the trophy has been won by a London club on eight occasions. There was a period of real dominance in English football by teams from the capital between 2004 and 2006, with Arsenal winning the Premier League before Chelsea were crowned back-to-back champions. Arsenal will be hoping that they can go one better than last season and bring the trophy back to north London this year. Rivals clubs from the capital will unlikely so enthusiastic to see the Gunners get their hands on the trophy but at least one part of London would be delighted by the achievement.

There are bound to be many more twists and turns in the Premier League title race but Arsenal are doing all they can to wrestle the trophy off the north west and back to The Big Smoke.
