7 fine-dining Chinese restaurants in London

Jan 12, 2022 By Jonathan

In the UK, Chinese restaurants are not what it used to be. Today, there are many Chinese people lives in the UK. Especially in London, Chinese food can escalate from pancakes and big buns in Chinatown to refined dishes in Michelin-starred restaurants. When visiting London, what’s more homely than premium Chinese food? In the elegant decor you can really savor the flavors and colors of these Chinese restaurants! Go to Visa Express if you need help with your travel visas.

HKK Hakka Kitchen

The head chef of this restaurant is Malaysian Tong Chee Hwee, a Michelin-starred chef who was trained by famous chef Qian Hanxian, who was headhunted from Singapore by Bole Alan Yau and returned to the UK to start a Hakka restaurant in the UK.

The unique thing about HKK is that you don’t need to order, just tell the waiter what ingredients you don’t like to eat. There are fifteen side dishes for a meal, and the chef decides for the guests. Each side dish is paired with a unique drink. Fifteen side dishes come down to more than a dozen matching drinks, one can imagine how capable HKK’s bartenders are. It is no wonder that after tasting such a set of dishes in three hours, HKK will give guests a certificate signed by the chef to prove that the guests have eaten here.

This exquisite and luxurious dining experience is far from ordinary and comparable. There are only 20 tables around the workbench. Delicate Wagyu beef, truffle steamed buns, and Australian green abalone will be presented to the guests in a royal meal-like ceremony.

Hakkasan Mayfair

Hakka is already a global brand, in addition to two restaurants in the UK, it is also developing in the US and the Middle East, and there is also one in Shanghai. Although under the same command of Tang Zhiwei, the style and atmosphere of the Hakka people are more relaxed, but the Michelin style can still be seen in the casual.

The overall style of Hakka is more like a nightclub with Michelin food, which is more noisy. The wait staff are not as uniformly continental as they are in the Hakka kitchen. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Hakkasan, with the deliberately sexy and raucous atmosphere of the smokehouse. Head straight to the black cage room in the southern section for slightly smoky Negronis and salt and pepper squid. If guests who like liveliness come here, they feel that they have come to the right place; if they like quiet guests, perhaps Hakka kitchen is more suitable.

Yauatcha Yau Kee Tea Garden (Tang Tea Garden)

Tang Tea Garden, which has been around for ten years, is still so lively and popular. Selected as one of the top 50 restaurants in the world by The Times’ authoritative restaurant guide, it is also the most well-known high-end Chinese restaurant in London, focusing on Cantonese dim sum. Caviar-topped canapés and other treats have put the restaurant on the gastronomic map, with some of the best dim sum in town, as well as haute French-Asian sweets and some of the world’s most expensive teas. Pick a table near the fish tank downstairs and enjoy some of London’s finest refreshments while breezy.

Hutong Hutong

The condescending and noble experience brought by the tallest building in Western Europe, the Fragment Building, is not the only secret recipe of this Chinese restaurant. The “Shandong Cuisine” from Shandong is its weapon. The menu originating from the imperial meal of the Beijing court is perfectly matched with the high-hanging red lanterns, the stacked tea brick walls and the wood-carved moon gate. When the new year comes, not only the special menu for the new year, but also the dragon dance and traditional Chinese games are launched.

This is the epitome of a premium Chinese dining experience, and don’t miss the legendary old-fashioned Peking Duck. This wood-fired dish in a hanging stove according to the ancient Chinese method is a perfect match for London’s most stunning views. Whether it’s Chinese snacks, or China’s most famous dishes have everything. Food view, the most tempting and reliable dining option.

Royal China Club

The Dynasty Club and the Dynasty are both under the Dynasty Group, but they are not the same family. Dynasty will have refreshments made of high-end ingredients that are not found in ordinary Chinese restaurants, such as abalone, lobster, venison, ostrich meat, etc. The frog legs are very chic and the bird’s nest rice is also delicious. It is said on the Internet that the sweet-scented osmanthus jelly is delicious. The bill will be slightly higher than Dynasty due to the ingredients, but definitely worth a try. It is recommended to book a seat in advance during the meal time.
