Tube Station History
Royal Albert is a Docklands Light Railway station located in the London Borough of Newham in East London. It was opened in 1994 as a part of the extension of the DLR to Beckton. The station is located adjacent to The Crystal, a sustainable building which showcases the latest sustainable urban development practices.
The area around Royal Albert was once a bustling hub of industry, with many factories and warehouses located along the River Thames. However, with the decline of manufacturing in the UK, the area fell into disuse and was largely abandoned by the 1980s.
