Check out this glorious picture of Nelson’s Column under construction in Trafalgar Square in 1844 – a very old picture. It was taken just 5 years after the invention of photography. It was actually taken by William Henry Fox Talbot – the inventor of modern photography. We love the juxtaposition of something old framed with something new – which at the time Nelson’s Column was! It’s a testament to London’s long history that there is always something new next to something old.
