About This Event
Inspired by the music and legacy of the late Ebo Taylor and created by his grandson Kobby Taylor, The Torch is a charged Afrobeat gig-theatre experience where Afrobeat, hip-hop and rap meet live storytelling and DJ-led sound. The cast slip between band and character, building a world that moves with the beat — playful one moment, raw the next.
At its core is a story of identity, pressure and self-discovery, tracing the journey from expectation to independence — and asking what it means to carry the torch, and when to break from it. Monday 31 August at General Gordon Square, Woolwich. Free. London premiere. (40 mins.)
