About This Event
A free public exhibition at Guildhall offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at one of the most ambitious embroidery projects in modern Britain. Held in The Old Library ahead of the invitation-only unveiling of The Circle of Life, it explores the making of a 2.3-metre circular artwork marking the 400th anniversary of the Worshipful Company of Upholders’ Royal Charter (1626). Displays cover the revival of Opus Anglicanum (historic English embroidery in silk, gold and silver thread), the work of designer Aidan Hart, the Royal School of Needlework, Fine Cell Work and the twelve participating English cathedrals. Visitors can meet the makers behind the project. Note: the finished artwork is not on display here; it is unveiled separately later the same day. Free, open to the public. Booking: Eventbrite.
