Houses of Parliament Summer Tours 2026

With both Houses in summer recess, the Palace of Westminster opens for guided and self-guided tours throughout August. It’s a rare chance to walk through Westminster Hall — the oldest surviving part of the palace, dating to 1097 — the Central Lobby, and the Commons and Lords chambers, when MPs and peers are away and the building is quiet. Guided tours are led by expert guides; self-guided multimedia tours are also available. Book ahead, and allow time for airport-style security. Westminster tube is right outside.
