A Closer Look at Churchill's Paintbox at The Wallace Collection

Dr Chantal Brotherton-Ratcliffe opens up Winston Churchill’s paintbox to trace the technical inventions that separate the 17th century from the late 19th: the squeezy metal tube that made painting outdoors practical, and the range of vibrant colors produced by the industrial revolution. The talk contrasts the narrow selection of pigments available to earlier artists with the equipment Churchill carried on his travels. Thursday 10 September, 1pm to 2pm.
