London Alert: Regent Street Christmas Light Switch-on Date Announced – November 15th

Oct 18, 2018 By Jonathan

Oxford Street announced last week and now Regent Street has announced when they’ll be switching on their Christmas lights – November 15th.

Here are the details:

Home to the largest lights installation in the capital, Regent Street is best known for its awe-inspiring ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ lights. These stunning suspended spirits were inspired by Regent Street’s very first Christmas lights scheme, which were the first ever central London Christmas lights in 1954.

Heralding the start of the festive season, join Regent Street for a triumphant celebration of the switch-on moment and see the stunning spirits return to London’s most iconic shopping street.

From 5pm – 9pm on Thursday 15th November, we’re inviting Londoners and visitors alike to join us on a traffic-free Regent Street to mark the switch-on moment. Soak up the atmosphere and await the dramatic switch-on show, taking place from 5.30pm – 6.30pm. Promising a fun and festive evening, there will be an array of surprise acts – previous guests include the likes of Paloma Faith, Tom Odell and Clean Bandit.

As with Oxford Street, they’ll be re-using the same lights from last year.

One of the best times to go to London is before Christmas. The prices are good. The crowds are small. Even though the daylight is short there are things to do in the evening so the days end up being longer. There are all those Christmas markets & skating rinks & store windows to look at, the special Christmas theater shows & the street lights. I love to go just to get the “feel” of Christmas because living in California you really don’t get that here.
