Our friends at the Visit Britain Super Blog are reporting that Nokia is offering free WiFi to anyone in central London for the rest of the year.
From Visit Britain:
This month, Nokia launched a free Wi-Fi trial service in London with 26 hotspots available across the capital. The free Wi-Fi is currently located around big tourist hotspots including Oxford Street and the West End, Westminster and Victoria.
The trial will go on until the end of the year when, if successful, it will be rolled out permanently and expanded through 2012.
You won’t have to provide any personal details. You simply need to agree to the terms and conditions the first time you use the service. You’ll get unrestricted access to the web, but each hotspot will initially be limited to 20mbps, and no one device will get more than 1mbps.
You can use any device, including smart phones, tablets and laptops etc. You will also have access to Nokia’s mapping technology so you can locate Wi-Fi hotspots more easily.
Very good news. Finding decent free WiFi in central London is always a problem for us and we usually just resort to going to the Apple Store and stealing theirs.
