Seven Things You Should Know About London Before Traveling To The City

May 24, 2021 By Jonathan

Visiting any country or location in the world can be quite a daunting task. But, it always pays to be prepared. Doing a bit of your own research about the destination is indeed one of the easiest ways to plan ahead of time. It could mean checking the simplest things, such as working out the routes and planning the transportation. Having said that, not all of us have the time to read it all about a location that we plan on visiting. But if your next travel destination in London, and you like to be a little prepared, this article is for you. Here in this article, we will provide you with a few simple tips to help you plan better when traveling to London. So, let us get started and address them one by one.

People enjoy talking about the weather.

‘Want to know the locals better? Strike a conversation with them, and talk about the relentless rain or the beautiful sunshine, or just weather in general. In London, people just feel happy complaining about the weather conditions, regardless of what they are. Some people consider them as experts and will give you a weekly update of what weather would be like in the next week without even checking out any weather-related applications,’ shares Jocelyne, an educator who offers homework help Canada, and visited London in 2019.

London is huge

There is no denying the fact that London is a big city. It is home to millions of people, and the metropolitan area and the city are both ginormous in every sense. So, for a visitor with only a few days to browse the city, you should try to visit the city’s best attractions that you wish to explore and are in your proximity. This can help save a lot of travel time across the city every day, more so because traveling around London will only add several hours per day in the name of transportation time.

Nothing happens without the tea

‘While you are in London, you can expect to be offered tea in every eventuality. Be it the rainy days, celebrations, sunny days, commiserations, you name an event, and there is a tea accompanying it,’ states Hannah, an educator who offers do my paper services, and has been to London thrice.

Well, it is true, everything in London calls for a good cup of warm tea. Moreover, there have been fierce debates around what goes first – the milk or the tea.

London and the accent

In London, the main language spoken is English, and approximately ninety-eight percent of the people in the country speak the language. Moreover, English is also spoken in several other countries across the globe. It has several dialects, which can significantly vary as you move from one corner of the country to another. This gets confusing for both tourists and natives. In addition, you can find several regional language speakers, such as Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic, and Welsh. The United Kingdom is a multi-national country, and beyond English, the UK has an array of other languages spoken worldwide, such as Hindi and Polish. So, depending on where you decide to stay, you must find someone to communicate with, especially when you are around pivotal places of the country.

London is England’s smallest city

Did we not say before that London is a big city? That is also true, but the fact remains that the megacity that we know of as London is the Greater London. So, what about the actual London city? It is a tiny part of this burgeoning metropolis and is home to just 9123 people. Hence, it is also one of the smallest cities in England.

Borough Market is London’s best market.

‘While I was in London, I literally spent the first few months exploring every market I heard of. Trust me when I say this, there are so many of them. These markets go from the touristy ones, such as the Camden and Spitalfields, to the non-touristy ones, such as the Petticoat Lane. That’s not all about the London markets. Some regular posh markets, such as Portobello, and some ultra-posh markets, such as Greenwich in London. Each of these markets is an experience in itself. However, there is no competition for the Borough Market. It is indeed one of the best and most deserving markets if you are considering giving London a repeat business, shares Donna, an educator who offers ‘pay someone to do my homework’ services.

Well, we agree with Donna on this, and the reason for this is multi-fold. First things first, the food in this market is the best you will find in London. Moreover, for a market that is set up under the railroad tracks, it is indeed gorgeous. Also, if you are interested in taking a one-day walking tour around the city, this market can be the perfect way to start.

Most museums do not cost you a penny.

The Tower of London is indeed one of the most beautiful places to see in London. It is 100% worth visiting if you can afford it. Well, yes, it is pricey, and it is often jam-packed with tourists. But, of course, it is because of the Crown Jewels that you get to see here. But, what if we tell you there are so many other museums in London that you can see for free? How about checking out the Elgin Marbles and the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum at absolutely no cost?

Further, if you wish to check out some regal finery, you can explore the Victoria & Albert, situated next to the Science Museum. Yes, that is free too. The Natural History Museum, which is also great for museum lovers, is also free.
