From ground based casinos in London to a booming online casino industry

Aug 13, 2022 By Jonathan

With millions of players, land-based casinos are attracting a lot of curious people and gamblers to London, with some very famous and busy casinos.  At the same time, online casinos are attracting more and more new players. Let’s take a closer look at this trend.

Iconic land-based casinos in London

Casinos are places full of magic and mystery, offering players an incredible atmosphere. In London, here are the most popular ones:

  • Hippodrome Casino

Hippodrome Casino opened its doors to casino lovers in 2012. Within a few years, it has become one of the most visited places in Her Majesty’s Kingdom. The establishment has 4 floors. It welcomes around 4 million players every year. It has been named Casino of the Year several times. Hippodrome Casino is a stylish establishment that has it all. It has an award-winning restaurant and 6 bars to choose from. There is also a 180-seat venue that hosts cabaret, soul, jazz and more.

  • Aspers Casino

Aspers Casino is without doubt the best land-based casino in the UK. It is a gambling paradise with ideal comfort. It is located on the third floor of the Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford City. Aspers Casino is one of the largest casinos in the UK. Open all year round, except for Christmas, Aspers Casino operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To enter this casino, you don’t need a membership and there is no formal dress code, you just have to look sharp. Here, security is meticulous. At Aspers Casino you can also enjoy a meal at Clary’s Restaurant or relax with a drink at the Sky Bar.

  • Grosvenor Victoria Casino

Grosvenor Victoria Casino was established over 50 years ago, in 1954. It is one of the oldest casinos in the country and remains one of the most visited casinos in the UK. The casino is best known for hosting the UK Poker Tour final. British poker enthusiasts call this casino ‘the place to be’. Like the other two casinos, it offers food and drink.

As you can see, these land-based casinos, like many others, have everything to please. However, in recent years, another type of casino has become popular: the online casino. Let’s see why.

The advantages of online casinos

  • A wide variety of games

Virtual casinos owe their popularity to the wide variety of games they offer, from classic casino games to unique titles. Players can literally access the entire gambling world at the click of a button.

  • Stunning bonuses

The virtual casino industry is very competitive, so casinos usually offer promotional offers and bonuses. The most popular ones are: welcome bonus, no deposit bonus (click here to know more about it), deposit bonus, loyalty bonus and free spins. These are not available in land-based casinos.

  • Easy and convenient

The convenience of virtual casinos is one of the main reasons why they are becoming so popular. Today, all you need is a smartphone or PC to enjoy the best casino games from the comfort of your couch. With the increasing use of smartphones, online casinos are developing more mobile apps, which are very convenient, as they allow you to play at any time.

  • Stunning jackpots

Jackpots are one of the most attractive aspects of online gambling. The biggest ambition of any bettor is to become the next millionaire. Jackpots allow you to win large sums of money with small stakes.

  • The quality of the games

The outdated interfaces of the 2000s have given way to stunning graphics and state-of-the-art features. Online casinos also focus on fast and smooth navigation. In addition, technological innovations in Virtual Reality (VR) and Advanced Reality (AR) are becoming even more appealing to players.

As you can see, online casinos differ from land-based casinos in many ways. Experts are predicting that this sector will continue to grow, but will it threaten land-based casinos?
