8 Amazing mystic places in Corfu you need to visit

Dec 19, 2018 By Jonathan

Greece is possibly every person’s dream destination that they wish to visit at least once in their life. If you want an even more beautiful experience when it comes to visiting Greece, take a detour and visit the quaint town of Corfu. When it comes to the unexplored and underrated places around in Greece, Corfu Island is definitely one of them, without a shadow of a doubt. When it comes to familiarity, Corfu is not every tourist’s part of the itinerary which is what makes it even grander. If you are planning on visiting this place once you reach the bottom of the article, ensure to get the best Corfu villas for rent and make the bookings beforehand.

In this article, we are going to be discussing the various scenic places you can visit while in Corfu.

Agni Bay

The very first on the list of the places is Agni Bay. This is a small hidden gem that is often skipped around by a number of people. This quaint village is one of the best parts of this island, hands down. There are a number of activities one can indulge in while in the village. Enjoy the warm toasty weather along the coastline or even take a dip into the relaxing water. If required, you can even take a break and lounge around on the sea front taverns. If seafood is your thing, this is the place to be in.

Kerkyra

Next on the list of amazing places to visit is the old town of Corfu, alternatively known as Kerkyra. The Corfu City is one of the most beautiful places that you could predominantly visit and if you are still thinking, it is time to make changes to the same. The best way to spend time around the place is to go exploring around. Spot the Venetian houses which represent the beauty of the city. Visit the UNESCO Heritage sites too, if that’s what you are going to do. Also, visit the popular churches around for the overall amazing experience.

Vlacherna Monastery

The Vlacherna Monastery is considered as one of the most iconic spots to visit when in Corfu. The place is an island on its own and is one of the most picturesque spots around to visit. In order to reach the monastery, you need to cross a small track over the water which is also an amazing experience. The place is open the entire year round and welcomes visitors from across the world. While there, ensure that you plan a trip to the Mouse Island as well which is located a bit further out on the sea.

Cape Drastis

Yet another iconic and scenic spots in Corfu is the Cape Drastis. It is located more towards the northern side of the island and stands tall and high. While the place is not always open the entire year around, you can gain easy access to the place during the summer months. The spot is very beautiful and is set to definitely take your breath away. The trail sometimes does have people who charge for the entry and sometimes you can just pass through without any hindrance. The sunset from the Cape Drastis is one of the most popular things to witness.

Canal d’Amour

If you want to visit a place that’s filled with tourists and is quite busy, canal d’Amour is the place to be in. This is located a bit west to the main city and is possibly a must visit when you are in Corfu. This is considered as one of the most unique spots around Corfu. If local tales are to be believed, it is said that couples who swim through the channel together get married soon. This is the reason why the place is named so and is a popular spot for people getting engaged.

Loggas Beach

If you are around Corfu, visiting the Loggas Beach is a must do. This place is not just known for its beauty on its own, it is also popular for being a popular spot for witnessing the sunset. This is an amazing spot to just find some recluse and chill around without any obligation or stress. You can lounge around on the sea and also enjoy the water around. There is a clifftop restaurant which further adds to the overall experience.

Porto Timoni

Yet another one of the amazing spots around Corfu is the Porto Timoni. This is a public favorite beach and the coastline on the island is something like no other. It is best suggested to forget or simply just park your car outside the village and stroll around the village for a wholesome experience altogether. The spot is amazing for not just swimming but snorkeling too, if that is something you are interested in.

Palaiokastritsa

As hard as the name of the place is to pronounce, the place is just as beautiful without a speck of doubt. It is situated in the north-west of Corfu which is regarded as the site of Scheria according to Greek Mythology. The monastery around the place dates back to 100 years back and is one of the most important attractions around the place.

Visiting Corfu is a must do if you are planning on visiting Greece. The places around is encompassed with lush greenery and the beauty is just too good to miss out on. Plan your trip ahead of time to ensure that you don’t miss out on any important place.
