Fans of the late Sir Terry Pratchett have a remarkable event to look forward to this month as the acclaimed show “The Magic of Terry Pratchett” arrives at the Duchess Theatre for a unique one-night performance on what would have been the beloved author’s 77th birthday.
Scheduled for Sunday, April 28th, this special West End presentation will feature Sir Terry’s daughter Rhianna Pratchett alongside creator Marc Burrows for an evening celebrating one of literature’s most imaginative storytellers.
The production, which has already sold over 15,000 tickets during its UK and international tour, will be presented in a special two-part format exclusively for this London engagement. The first half delivers Burrows’ original one-hour multimedia show that earned five-star reviews at both Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe festivals, while the second half features a live panel discussion with Rhianna Pratchett, comedian Dan Schreiber (known for “No Such Thing As A Fish”), and a yet-to-be-revealed special guest with close ties to Sir Terry’s legacy.
“This isn’t just a show for die-hard Discworld fans,” commented a spokesperson for the production. “It’s an exploration of how one man’s imagination created worlds that continue to resonate with millions of readers worldwide.”
Rhianna Pratchett, who recently stepped into her father’s literary universe to co-author the Amazon bestseller “Tiffany Aching’s Guide to Being a Witch,” serves as co-director of Narrativia, the production company safeguarding and developing Sir Terry’s works for screen adaptation. Her participation makes this performance particularly significant for fans of the Discworld series.
Creator Marc Burrows, whose Locus Award-winning biography shares the show’s title, blends comedy, storytelling, and licensed media in what critics have called “funny, clever and profound” and “a beautiful tribute” to the author who sold over 100 million books worldwide.
The performance will explore not only Sir Terry’s literary achievements but also his passionate advocacy work, particularly regarding dementia research and end-of-life rights following his own diagnosis with posterior cortical atrophy, a rare form of Alzheimer’s disease.
For London visitors and residents looking to experience this celebration of British literary culture, tickets are available through the Duchess Theatre website. The venue’s central location at 3-5 Catherine Street (WC2B 5LA) makes it easily accessible for tourists exploring Covent Garden and the West End.
The Magic of Terry Pratchett plays at the Duchess Theatre on Sunday, April 28th, 2025, at 7:30pm. For tickets and additional information, visit the Duchess Theatre website.
