To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of the first Harry Potter book (this makes me feel old as I remember!), the British Library is going to be putting on a special exhibition.

As this is Harry Potter we’re talking about, expect this to be a very popular exhibition. By very popular, you better buy your tickets as soon as they’re available because it will undoubtedly sell out.

It’s sometimes still hard to get tickets to the Harry Potter Studio Tour and it’s practically impossible to get tickets to see The Cursed Child in the current calendar year.

So, tickets for the British Library Harry Potter Exhibition go on sale on Monday, April 3rd. You would do well to book it in advance.

From the British Library:

We are happy to be able to say more about the previously announced Harry Potter exhibition, which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

We can now announce that the title of the exhibition, which was announced in partnership with Bloomsbury earlier this year, will be Harry Potter: A History of Magic and will be open from 20 October 2017 – 28 February 2018. This is a thrilling new exhibition that will showcase a fascinating display of wizarding books, manuscripts and magical objects, and combine centuries-old British Library treasures with original material from Bloomsbury’s and J.K. Rowling’s own archives.

The structure of the exhibition has been inspired by the subjects that Harry and his friends study at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, from Potions and Herbology, to Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures, and will explore the rich magic traditions that they draw on.

Here are the ticket details. Exhibition tickets for 20 October to 31 December 2017 go on sale on Monday 3 April 2017 at 12 noon and will be sold online at www.bl.uk/harry-potter-exhibition Tickets for 1 January to 28 February 2018 will be announced later this year.

Tickets for Harry Potter: A History of Magic cost £16 for adults and between £5 and £11 for concessions. Family tickets are available with 20% off the total ticket price. A family can be at least one adult and at least one child, with a maximum of six tickets in total.

Tickets will only be available to buy ONLINE!

  1. I love this site and appreciate all of the information I have received from it and I have purchased your merchandise however the “Mr & Mrs Anglophile” thing you have going when referencing each other is utterly ridiculous! I actually get embarrassed for you when you do it????

  2. I think it’s funny and very nice. Dawn needs to find something real to complain about – lots to choose from these days.
