This October sees the third London Restaurant Festival, a city-wide celebration of eating out in the capital, from Michelin-starred restaurants to neighbourhood bistros.

Some restaurants will offer Festival Menus, and there will be different events during the two weeks, including the world’s first six-Michelin-star meal. Guests will be served drinks at the Savoy hotel, before being taken by boat to the EDF Energy London Eye where a capsule will be transformed into a ten-seat restaurant (above). Each course will be cooked by some of London’s greatest chefs including Angela Hartnett, Jason Atherton, Claude Bosi, Pierre Koffmann and Marcus Wareing.

At the Gourmet Odyssey, diners will eat each course of a meal at a different restaurant, travelling between the venues on a traditional red double-decker Routemaster bus.

There will also be a small film festival Eat Film in some London hip hotels in Soho, Covent Garden and Charlotte Street. Cocktails will be served before a movie, and after it a three-course dinner will be served. The food will be inspired by the film and devised by the London restaurant critic and festival co-founder Fay Maschler.

American Express will challenge some of London’s top chefs to see if they can improve some classic British dishes. French, British and Asian chefs will compete with their interpretations of classic dishes. There will also be a Scotch Egg Trail, where diners across different restaurants can vote for the best. (Scotch eggs are shelled hard-boiled eggs, wrapped in a sausage meat mixture, coated in breadcrumbs, and deep-fried.)
