An important short housekeeping post. For a couple of years now, we’ve had a service called OneSignal that sends website users ‘push notifications’ whenever a new article was posted on Anglotopia and Londontopia.
We’re discontinuing this service starting January 1st, 2021, for various reasons:
- Few people actually want them
- They’re annoying
- Users hate them
- And it creates support headaches for us (so many people would sign up for them, then forget and email me angry that we were spamming them).
The problem, though, is that some Anglotopia readers do use them to be notified when we post new stuff. So, we’re going to transition to something else.
Please download our mobile app for iOS or Android, which is now FREE. Just enable push notifications when you install the app and then you will continue to receive notifications whenever we post new articles.
It’s a much better user experience and we can turn something off that’s not really working. We’ll keep the notifications on until January 1st, 2020 and then switch them off. We’ll remind folks a few more times. There are 10,000 people who use the push notifications, so please get the app so you don’t miss out!
