About this London Attraction
Sir John Soane’s Museum is one of the most unique museums in London. The museum was formerly the home of the neo-classical architect Sir John Soane. It holds many drawings and models of his projects and the collections of paintings, drawings and antiquities that he assembled. The Museum is in the Holborn district of central London, England, on Lincoln’s Inn Fields. This is a fun look at the home of a Victorian gentleman. Consider attending the evening opening where you can browse the place by candlelight.
The building itself is an architectural wonder. Sir John Soane designed the house himself, and it is a testament to his ingenuity and creativity. The house is filled with natural light, and the windows are placed strategically to create an illusion of space. The house is also filled with many hidden doors and secret passages, which adds to its intrigue.
One of the main attractions of the museum is its collection of ancient artifacts. Sir John Soane was an avid collector of antiquities, and his collection has grown to be one of the largest in the world. The collection includes ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman artifacts, as well as many other treasures from around the world.
The museum also has an impressive collection of paintings and drawings. Sir John Soane was a talented artist, and he amassed a large collection of his own works as well as the works of other artists. The collection includes works by famous artists such as Canaletto, William Hogarth, and J.M.W. Turner.
In addition to the artifacts and art, the museum also has a library that is open to the public. The library contains over 7,000 books, and it is a great place to go if you are interested in architecture, art, or history.
Visiting the Sir John Soane Museum is a unique experience. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, and admission is free. However, the museum is quite small, and it can get crowded quickly. It is recommended that you visit early in the day to avoid the crowds.
If you are interested in seeing the museum in a different light, consider attending the evening opening where you can browse the place by candlelight. This is a unique experience that allows you to see the museum in a completely different way. The evening opening takes place on the first Tuesday of every month, and it is free to attend.
When visiting the museum, be sure to take your time and explore all of the rooms. There are many hidden treasures throughout the house, and it is easy to miss something if you are not paying attention. The museum also offers guided tours, which are a great way to learn more about the house and its history.
Overall, the Sir John Soane Museum is a must-see attraction in London. Its unique architecture, impressive collection of artifacts and art, and fascinating history make it a one-of-a-kind experience. Whether you are an architecture buff, an art lover, or just looking for something different to do in London, the Sir John Soane Museum is definitely worth a visit.

Londontopia's Review
One of London’s smaller and more intimate museums, it’s basically someone’s house. There are some famous Hogarth worth seeing. The house is quite small, however, so it can quickly feel crowded. If you can, book into one of the candlelit tour evenings.
