With our upcoming trip to London coming faster than we expected, one of the things we needed to make a decision on was a new Digital Camera. On previous trips to London, we’ve always had a big, bulky SLR with us. It was difficult to pack and laborious to carry. While it took great pictures, we thought there had to be another way.
While we shopped around for a new camera we decided to go with the Sony Nex Compact system camera. We needed a camera that could take SLR quality pictures but also take 1080p video for our travel videos that we share on our site.
The Nex-7 Compact SLR ticked all those boxes. While the price is rather steep, it pays for itself in the quality of the pictures. We’ve had the camera for a few months now and we’re very happy with it.
Now that we travel with two kids, a small camera is critical so that it’s easy to juggle the kids and the camera at the same time, it also needs to be durable. Most of the SLR’s out there have plastic bodies which don’t stand up well to wear. The Nex series cameras are made of metal and have solid nobs instead of delicate buttons – it’s much more robust.
The Nex ecosystem is easy to work with, had ample lenses we can use, and some good accessories. So, you don’t need to travel abroad with a big SLR camera – you can get the same results with a handy and compact Nex camera. When planning your next trip abroad, give some thought to the Sony Nex Compact system camera.
