The UK’s newest hotel group is to open its first hotel in London’s Soho district. Z Hotel Soho plans to be the first hotel designed for the ‘Urbanite Stay’, meaning short city-centre stays at reasonable rates.
The hotel is a designer conversion of 12 Georgian townhouses. It will offer 85 rooms, a central courtyard and a Z café. The hotel is within walking distance of the West End theatres, shops, restaurants, bars and clubs.
Bev King of Z Hotels says: ‘As a team, we saw a gap in the hotel market and an opportunity to define a new category based around short-stay city centre accommodation. We know that when visitors to cities book their accommodation, a central location and reasonable price point are the key factors in making their decision as to where to stay. But customers also want a stylish interior, flat screen TVs and free wi-fi as standard. All our properties will be centrally located, design-led hotels at an affordable price.’
London’s Soho district was farmland until 1536, when Henry VIII turned it into a royal park. It is now a busy and fashionable entertainment and media area. Old Compton Street is now known for its gay bars and shops. London’s Chinatown is also nearby.
The hotel is planning a ‘soft’ opening in November. Room rates start at £85 a night. You can also browse cheap hotels in London here.
